Certificate Iv in Leisure and Health (CHC43415) reflects the role of workers participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of leisure, health activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas. Workers may be in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres, completing specialised tasks and functions in relation to leisure and health.

Delivery

Delivery structure is comprised of classroom training sessions, structured learning such as training support, learning activities, self-paced (to allow the learners to absorb and reflect on their learning), workshops and work placement.

Entry requirements

There are NO previous work or education requirements for entry into this course. Students may enrol directly in the certificate IV level course without completing lower ranked qualifications.

Graduates can expect higher course levels to result in higher potential salary, positions and skill capabilities.

Admission Requirements:

  • Age: must be 17 years or over
  • Undertake Pre-Training Review
  • Undertake LLN test: Learning (ACSF Level 3), Reading (ACSF Level 3), Writing (ACSF Level 3), Oral communication (ACSF Level 3) and Numeracy (ACSF Level 2) are desirable to participate in the course.
  • Police Check – Students undertaking this course are required to provide a current Police Check with no disclosures.

Work placement

To achieve Certificate IV in Leisure and Health qualification the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work placement as detailed in the assessment requirements of the units of competency. If a student is unable to find appropriate work placement, Hammond Institute will assist in finding the work placements.

All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in an accredited residential care facility for either aged care, disability or home and community organisation to be deemed competent for this qualification.
